Your thoughts on Dark Side of the Moon

Post by guitargod2112 »

I'm going to do a speech on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. I plan on discussing: a brief history of band leading up to the album, the production, meanings of songs/philosophical stuff, maybe even the Wizard of Oz synch. Anyone have any additional ideas or thoughts that I can quote? I have the DSOTM DVD. Thanks

The book "which one's Pink" is really excellent and will help you academically. It has an excellent chapter on DSotM amongst others and has some very interesting information. You can buy a copy for about ?6/$10.

There is no dark side of the moon, really.

Matter of fact, it's all dark and the thing that makes it look alight is the sun.

You need to listen to some old roio's to fully appreciate the studio record. When it was known as "Eclipse" they were just developing the songs. You say you have the DVD, so you get an idea what the "On the Run" segment was before it was actually recorded. Early versions of the other songs were just as interesting.

Sorry to be picky... i think... but the actual words are "there is no dark side in the moon really!"

Be as picky as you like...it's YOUR board, dude :)

I agree with you, by the way. I've always thought it sounds like he says "in."

At one time, though, wasn't it agreed that being as he's Irish, he was probably actually saying "dark side o' the moon?"

dsotm -
spent 741 weeks on the billboard charts.
is considered one of the greatest records of all time.
is found by teens from every generation since its release...
is for the alienated teenager rather than the average stoner

I always thought it was o' the moon but on the dsotm dvd, the text comes up on the screen as being "in".

It's not outer space; It's inner human... (the music of Pink Floyd).
