Hamlet

Post by David Smith »

Ok, i don't want to bore anyone by going on about the play or anything (although it was very good) and insead i have to write an english essay on it. Now i'm just going to ask in the most basic way possible, if anyone here has read it, do you you feel Hamlet is himself mad?

Also do you have any sympathy for the guy? if so how does it develop through the play?

I will not copy your answers, i've actually already just about finished my essay, i'm just wondering what you lot think about it.

I dont think i would recommened reading Shakespeare for pleasure. To me, its the kind of reading that is done in school, and studied and all. But, if you really want to, i would start off with Romeo and Juliet, its a good, easy one. Julius Caesar is also easy.

Comedy of errors
Titus Andronicus
The taming of the shrew
Two gentlemen of verona
the merry wives of windsor
richard 2
romeo and juliet
richard 3
the merchant of venice
henry 4 part 2
love's labour's lost
as you like it
henry 5
a midsummer night's dream
henry 6 part 2
much ado about nothing
henry 6 part 3
twelth night
troilus and cressida
hamlet
measure for measure
henry 4 part 1
othello
all's well that ends well
julius caesar
macbeth
king lear
antony and cleopatra
timons of athens
coriolanus

If i was to do it i couldn't listen to AHM and then Meddle, it would just be irritating. I also couldn't listen to More, AMLOR or Umma Gumma.

Been away for a while eating cheese... This layout looks amazing!

So, Ummagumma: definitely their least successful album. Atom Heart Mother may sound like a band thrashing about in the dark, but, hey, it's got tunes and stuff. Ummagumma is just messy. 'Meadows' and 'Eugene' are good, though. Needless to say.

I just listened to Pink Floyd in chonological order over the last few days. And for some reason i found AMLOR a lot easier to listen to than AHM, Meddle or ASFOS. Strange that, but half way through AHM i was just bored of it. Same with ASFOS and Meddle, but to less of an extent.

Ok, this is going to serve no intrest to anyone, but i'm proud of it, i got an A and a B+ for the Hamlet essays and the exam is next week which the teacher guessed i'm getting an A/B for.

So how did evryone here do in their exams? Any exams, it doesn't matter, just boast, you're all sound guys (and gals) so boast!
