Here are the questions, a mix of Maths, Science, and Pink floyd general knowlege.

The one with the most right gets the roio. If there is a tie I will post one last question on my specilast subject - Vehicle Technology.

Here are your questions. On some of them I have given you formulas and hints on how to do them.

Adding Binary

When adding binary the following rules apply:
1 + 0 = 1
0 + 1 = 1
1 + 1 + 10

example

11 + 1

1+1=0 carry the 1, 1+1=0 carry the 1 etc

=100

1) Add the binary numbers together and convert to denary.

a) 1011 + 11

b) 11011 + 1011

c) 110101 + 11111

d) 10111 + 11010 + 111

2) Octal is another number system, based on the eight digits 0 – 7. Counting with octal is as follows: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,20,21,etc.

Using this system the denary number 11 equals octal number 13 as you have 1 lot of 8’s and 3 units.

Using this theory convert the following octal numbers to denary:

a)15
b)21
c)46
d)73

Convert the following denary numbers to octal:

a) 16
b) 37
c) 49
d) 101

3) Robert Plant of Led Zepplin released an album called
“The principle of moments”. What is the principle of moments?

4) a) What other Band had an album called “Dark Side of the Moon ?
b) What were Pink Floyd going to call DSOTM because of this?

5) a) What was the name of the 1977 Pink Floyd world tour
b) What two things were significant about this tour.

6) A pressure of 0.64 N/mm acts on a wheel cylinder with a diameter of 34mm.
Calculate the braking force if:

Braking force = Pressure X Cross Sectional Area.

I just did 2 hours of Econometrics and I came to the forum for some light relief and what do i find?!?!?! More MATHS!!!

Coudln't answer them all, but here's what i can do

Binery questions

1011 + 11 = 1100
= 12

11011 + 1011 = 100110
= 38

110101 + 11111 = 1010100
= 84

10111 + 11010 + 111 = 101010
= 82

Octal:

15= 1111
21= 10101
46= 101110
73= 1001001

3) The principle of moments states that the moment of any force is equal to the algabaeric sum of the moments of the components force. This is also known as Varignon's theorum.

4) Medicine Head had an album named Dark Side Of the Moon and Pink Floyd were going to name their album Eclipse, but the Medicine Head album failed to sell well so they stuck with their name.

5) the 1977 tour was named the In the Flesh tour, this was the final stadium tour with Roger, and during a concert Eoger spat on a fan who was enjoying the show to much. This inspired him to write The Wall.

6) Erm, what? I haven't a clue.

Now how bout explaining the octal system better, i'm sure your teachers will have explained in a lot more detail

Oh, I thought the two big things aboot the In The Flesh tour were the pig and spit, but I guess you're right.
