My new song...

Post by Keith Jordan »

I wrote a song today and recorded a rough demo of it. Let me know what you think of it! My computer stopped working properly and there is a skip in time at the beginning of the song. Sorry! :-) I adlibbed the chorus so is a bit sloppy and needs some work!

ILL MISS YOU WHEN I'M GONE - Words & Music by Keith Jordan

A secret knowing smile
on a road that lasts for miles
a warmness deep inside
and I know I'll miss you when I'm gone

I hold you and we feel safe
from the darkness that surrounds
so forward into the night
and I know I'll miss you when I'm gone

And When I return
can I use these lessons that I've learnt?
I'll keep you in my mind all the time
and I'll miss you when I'm gone

A secret knowing smile
on a road that lasts for miles
a warmness deep inside
and I know I'll miss you when I'm gone

I hold you and we feel safe
from the darkness that surrounds
so forward into the night
and I know I'll miss you when I'm gone

And When I return
can I use these lessons that I've learnt?
I'll keep you in my mind all the time
and I'll miss you when I'm gone

Nice. Very nice indeed. The guitar sound reminded me of The Stone Roses' debut. Nice vocal, too, despite the meandering  . Worthwhile. I'd like to own this song. :)

Just Curious- where is your "subject" going?

I have a feeling it's the Middle East. Am I right or wrong on that?

That is a very interesting interpretation indeed. I am glad it is not "obvious" what the song is about. I like art to be a reflection of the person looking at it!!

I am writing a themed album about a young man who has a lot of stress and a lot to deal with in his life, he is finally driven to madness and into a mental institution. In this song, the subject is saying goodbye to somebody that he deeply loves and knows the road to recovery will be long. But he will keep her in mind all the time! The twist is that this girl is also stressed and bothered by life so, when the subject returnes from this long road to recovery, he will use the lessons he has learnt and go back to that "hug" situation where all the darkness is gone and try to help her. Etc. I have these wild ideas. :-)

That sounds great! I'd like to hear more when available. How about this for a twist:

"she" has been masquerading as his girlfriend only to gain "his" trust. While he believes that he is entering the institution of his own free will, he actually has multiple personalities; One of which is responsible for a number of brutal murders. So the bottom line is -"she" is trying to get him to the institution to lock him up by gaining the trust of his more sane personality.

or something like that

That is quite a twist but I want to develop it so that most people can relate to it on a personal level. :D

Why did your lead guitarist not get credit for writing the music with you?

I mean, lead guitarists always have to get part of the songwriting credit,
right?

I'm downloading the song right now. The lyrics are pretty good, Keith.
