You may need a third plan of becoming a millionaire then!iwantmypinkfloydnow wrote:My two plans in life now
1)Own a Van Gough Artwork
2)Own a Syd Barrett Artwork
There was one Syd Barrett drawing I saw in a Pink Floyd special Mojo magazine that was of a boy wearing really big round glasses, that was always a favourite of mine.

I can't read Syd Barrett's handwriting for the life of me. It's almost as bad as John Lennon's.
There's something very unusual about the last one, though. I wonder if he wasn't reflecting an event in his childhood.
His habit of labelling things is funny; I don't know if he intended that or if it was an Asperger's Syndrome urge to have everything mapped out for later use. (If I drew, I'd probably do that on preliminary sketches.)
There's something mysteriously funny about how he labelled the meniscous of the boiler, though. I'd like to see more of this kind of thing. (Also, his drawing of himself staring into dead space while the world passes on without him... maybe he had sudden-blankness attacks more often than we thought? Maybe it was part of whatever syndrome he had as a child, he grew out of it, but then the LSD and stress knocked him into retroactivity and he freaked onstage like he did in front of a boiler?)

I've heard this as well...that he would burn his paintings upon finishing them...but there are always so many rumors flying around concerning Mr. Barrett that it is nearly impossible to decipher what is truth and what is fiction.jedi with crazy diamonds wrote:very nice artwork, thanks for the links, he was very talented i hope to see more of his work available.
i read somewhere he destroyed his newer stuff anyone know about this?
Is there anyone more educated on this topic, perhaps?
