ok, so far I have heard he suffered from Schizophrenia, Autism, Aspenger Syndrome, just had a "special" mind, etc... so what's the truth about all this?
If he had really suffered from schizophrenia, as Roger Waters believes, it's highly unlikely that he could have lived "functionaly" without taking some kind of anti-psicotic medication (seroquel, haloperidol, etc), and this is exactly what his sister claims, that he never took anti-psicotics.
So what do you think was Syd's real mental problem/condition?
The truth about Syd's mental condition.

Re: The truth about Syd's mental condition.
I remember reading somewhere from someone raising a child afflicted with Aspberger's that Syd's symptoms very closely resembled that of their child.
Personally, I think it was a combination of drug use, intense pressure on a fragile mind and a pre-existing condition.
I think Syd was just "unique" enough to have all of these things whammy him at the same time.

Re: The truth about Syd's mental condition.
It is no wonder if he took pills, for example my granny dies if she doesn't take her medicine, and it's been like that for about 5 years now, though she's otherwise physically and mentally strong. It's just that someday medicines don't work anymore.

yes he did have a blood sugar problemmoom wrote:Good question All I know is that he had VERY serious blood sugar problems (I may be mistaken, sorry).
and back in 66-7-8 .and this this was not known
at the time .
if you drink booze in this condition you can and will suffer mental confusion . the number one sign is anger
add the amount of lsd he took
add his quiet sensitive nature
add his poor diet and sleeping habits
[[ in 67 p f toured all over england non stop ]]
[[ syd him self writes about not wanting the lime light ]] [[this post will be long sorry ]]
in bike he writes
'i've got a bike, you can ride it if you like.
It's got a basket, a bell that rings
And things to make it look good.
I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.
You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I'll give you anything, everything if you want things.
I've got a cloak it's a bit of a joke.
There's a tear up the front. It's red and black.
I've had it for months.
If you think it could look good, then I guess it should.
You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I'll give you anything, everything if you want things.
I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house.
I don't know why I call him Gerald.
He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse.
You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I'll give you anything, everything if you want things.
I've got a clan of gingerbread men.
Here a man, there a man, lots of gingerbread men.
Take a couple if you wish. They're on the dish.
You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I'll give you anything, everything if you want things.
I know a room full of musical tunes.
Some rhyme, some ching,
clearly he needs very little except for his art
he writes about which is the exact moment he is in
very childlike or maybe the exuberance of youth had not yet been kicked out of him like all of us when we reach older days .
in jug-band
the most chilling song i know he writes
It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here
And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear that I'm not here.
And I never knew the moon could be so big
And I never knew the moon could be so blue
And I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes
And brought me here instead dressed in red
And I'm wondering who could be writing this song.
I don't care if the sun don't shine
And I don't care if nothing is mine
And I don't care if I'm nervous with you
I'll do my loving in the winter.
And the sea isn't green
And I love the Queen
And what exactly is a dream
And what exactly is a joke.
he fucking slams the thing of stardom
and what pink floyd was about to do to him
adding up all of above and his stubbiness of not wanting to do the lip sync bullshit of stardom
and being forced to do it
well syd became less
cracks appeared
while i feel the key was blood sugar
and a perfect storm of other problems
while at the brink
facing the eternal black within black abyss
when the band started playing different tunes ..
he fell
when he stood front row and watched his friend and teacher DAVID GILMOUR playing in his stead
that broke his heart
everybody thought of pf as barrets band
he was inventor
front man and very sexy guy []
did syd go crazy so soon after writing this .
Lime and limpid green, a second scene
A fight between the blue you once knew.
Floating down, the sound resounds
Around the icy waters underground.
Jupiter and Saturn, Oberon, Miranda
And Titania, Neptune, Titan.
Stars can frighten.
Blinding signs flap,
Flicker, flicker, flicker blam. Pow, pow.
Stairway scare Dan Dare who's there?
Lime and limpid green
The sounds surrounds the icy waters underground
Lime and limpid green
The sounds surrounds the icy waters underground.
i don;t think so
syd was never insane
========================
he never came back .. no no no this is where many sell syd short
he did come back
in interviews in 71 72 and 76 he states clearly that he is happy
and please don't ask him question he has already answered . in 1970 in his garden he says after being asked what has he done for the last two years
syds states
giving interviews about what i have been doing for the last two years
he wanted to be left alone
he wanted his old sneaker back
his clan of ginger bread man will for ever
sit in the other room
i am crying now
sometimes thinking about syd this happens
my name in other worlds is baby lemonade
it is not my place to forgive roger and david for the heartless shit they did
the rest of their lives they have paid tribute to syd
i know not of nick hand in this deed
i heard once rick protested the deal
why would i cry over this dude
i was ten yrs. old in 67
why would million still hold syd so dear
this is why
======================There was a king who ruled the land.
His majesty was in command.
With silver eyes the scarlet eagle
Showers silver on the people.
Oh Mother, tell me more.
Why'd'ya have to leave me there
Hanging in my infant air
Waiting?
You only have to read the lines
They're scribbly black and everything shines.
Across the stream with wooden shoes
With bells to tell the king the news
A thousand misty riders climb up
Higher once upon a time.
--------------------
i hope i did not bore anyone hear and some of my facts may not be true
i tried hard to only state things of which i am sure
alas concerning syd much is not spilled over in mist
peace and love
bruce p
And what exactly is a dream
And what exactly is a joke
this 2 line alone put syd far above most other artist whole body of work

thanks dudes
i stared at a wall for 30 yrs
and read almost every word ever written about p f
the wall being my mind
and i found that most writers just rprinted what other writers have said
so i have very few true facts about syd
most of what paid writers wrote is is was re hashed bullshit
over time some of us just decided to read his words
and silently stand shoulder to shoulder with syd
shine on you crazy diamond ~!!!!!``````~~~~~
