You know, I honestly think Paranoid Eyes is the best song on TFC. And since TFC rules big freakin time, that says a lot. The lyrics are pure Waters genius.
Button your lip
And dont let the shield slip
Take a fresh grip on your bullet proof mask
And if they try to break down your disguise
With their questions
You can hide, hide, hide
Behind paranoid eyes.
HEY WALT WHITMAN, HIDE YOUR HEAD IN SHAME YOU WORTHLESS TOOL!!
HEY SHAKESPEARE, READ IT AND WEEP YOU LITTLE BITCH!!
YOU GUYS AINT NEVER WRITTEN ANYTHING THAT POETIC!!!
I cant believe that more people dont get it and that this song never gets the play it deserves.

I disagree.
I think "The Gunner's Dream" is.
Just the line "...no one kills the children anymore..." brings me to the edge of weepery.

I think it is easily the worst song on the album. Musically it does very little for me, and ven though the lyrics are Roger on top form, i just can't excuse a song that's so unexciting. It's like Gilmour used to claim; the ideas were stronger than the vehicles that were carrying them.

I consider the album one entire song. This one is a good one to me, because I like the atmospherics...the subtle little sounds are what I've always liked about PF.

Top songs for me on TFC: Your Possible Pasts (great dinamics), Southampton Dock (heartfelt and melodic), The Final Cut (AKA Return of The Son of Confortably Numb Part 2).
Top "cringe inducing" songs on TFC: The Post War Dream, The One With The Cheesy Saxsophone Solo (Gunner's Dream? Paranoid Eyes? Can't remember), Not Now John.
The rest is pretty average.
PS/ Option 4 was too good to not vote for it.

No. Unfortunately, despite having pretty good lyrics, I rate this as the worst because it is such a musically boring track to have to suffer through. The best songs for me are the Gunner's Dream, the Final Cut and Two Suns in the Sunset, which (for me) display outstanding lyrics, carry a wealth of emotion with them and are musically superior.

No, - one of the worst if not The worst song on the entire The Final Cut album.
Lyricaly very good, but musically very poor.
Best on TFC - The Gunners Dream, The Final Cut, Fletcher Memorial Home

What the holy hell is wrong with you people?
You have all failed the exam.
All you guys saying it is weak musically....whatever the hell that means.
You are wrong.
Me and this broad disagree....she understands...unlike you no-account clowns.
This song is better musically than any song, since TFC, put out by any former members of PF, including The Genius, let alone the guys who ran that scam thing.
Thank goodness there are people, like this chick, who understand music.

To me, it sounds like Roger needed to spend another couple of hours writing it before he recorded it.
It sounds more like a work-in-progress than a finished song to me.

I think that chick proves that the song is perfect. Its a matter of being evolved far enough to understand its perfection.

Re: Paranoid Eyes. Best song on The Final Cut?
Lots of singers have made shite songs better with their interpretations.
I must admit, her performance adds something to the song. But that's more to do with her performance than with the song itself.
Imagine how good her interpretation would be if it were a better song.

I second that. It sounds just as great and polished demo. Nothing more:mosespa wrote:
