On one hand, without The Final Cut, Gilmour, Wright, and Mason wouldn't have decided to leave the group. That was probably the straw that broke the camel's back for them.JackRegan wrote:I'm not.sintrait wrote:I'm glad this album exists.
Now, I know some of you aren't fond of the Gilmour-era works, but I see that phase as the band finding themselves again and starting over from scratch. Would you rather see the band pulling through another album in bad blood or finding themselves at peace with their last 2 albums?
But on the other hand, I'm surprised The Final Cut came out as well as it did considering the tension between the members. It shows that the band had a good work ethic despite what went on behind the scenes. They struggled to balance quality music with band politics and out came a mixed bag of results. Like I've stated before, it's not one of my favorite Floyd albums, but it has its moments and it's better than a lot of other artists' worst material.
