So, which one do you prefer?
I originally thought this was gonna be a breeze for Madcap, but upon repeated listening I find Barrett to be just as good. So, I'm still in a dilemma and let you guys vote first

I chose Barrett. Madcap is brilliant too but Barrett (both the album and musician) is so underrated, and it has killer tunes in Dominoes, It is Obvious, Wined and Dined, Gigolo Aunt, and funny lyrics in Effervescing Elephant.

Tough choice. Taking both albums as a whole, "Madcap" is more haunting and interesting, but "Barrett" is more pleasant. Going song by song I guess "Madcap" beats "Barrett".

Song by song I'll agree with you, but I am just on a Barrett roll right now

I wish that Gilmour and Waters should do covers of Syd's songs

I don't, and I really don't think they will either. Syd is a very uncomfortable topic for Pink Floyd, and they would as much want to "leave him alone", now that he's dead.
Plus, even if they did cover Syd's solo songs, the covers would lack the sparkle that Syd had.

Barrett, but would have voted for the winner if Opel was on it.
I think the bonus tracks are shit on both CDs and I remember the days of the tapes with the Italian writing on the side had the exact number of tracks on these albums.

This is a bit off-topic, but I just listened to both The Madcap Laughs and Barrett on a rainy afternoon.
It was simply magical (and no, no hash or LSD involved )
Proceeding to Opel now....

I didn't meen they should try copy Sid, more like a tribute record. It could be great terapi for them and a chance to show the world what a great artist Sid was. And maby it could be a new beginning for them.

See the thread "Syd's influences on Pink Floyd".
Half of Post Syd Floyd's output was based or influenced by Syd. Waters even developed his singing style based of Syd's singing on Madcap. Would you want to have them pitch on even Syd's solo work?

The Madcap Laughs, without a doubt. It´s my favorite PF solo album, along with Amused to Death.
I love the atmosphere on it, how erratic it turns for some time, within songs. Terrapin is the best song off the album (to me).
Love Syd.

And if Barrett (the musician) is underrated, I´ll think there are many, many morons in this world.

Morons? I don't know. Ignorant? Yes.
I find it funny that Syd has always been given rockstar legend status by all the media and musicians, but in general I even find many PF fans either unaware of Syd or not understanding his importance in Floyd or music in general.

David has done several of Syd's songs in concert: Dominoes, Arnold Layne, and Astronomy Domine...maybe more...not sure.
