Nick joins Dire Straits?
At the recent Festival of Speed event at Goodwood, Nick Mason joined 2 ex Dire Straits members, Guy Fletcher(Keyboards) and John Illsley(Bass) and Tony Clark and Durga and Lorelei McBroom to form a little band at a private show. The show was a private show after the Saturday Goodwood Festival of Speed Ball centered around a huge circular Aqua Graphic water curtain inside which were various dancers and performers. Plus fireworks. Even though John Illsley is a Bass player, he has been playing lead guitar on his latest solo album and live, so I don't know if he played Bass of lead, I'm not sure who Tony Clark is and what he played. But the band played Pink Floyd classics One of These Days, and Great Gig in The Sky Not sure when Nick last played One of These Days, but it must have been a while.

I haven't found any, but according to Guy Fletcher, it was a private gig, so who knows.

Re: Nick joins Dire Straits?
it must have been fun to watch and hear but the title of this thread is misleading, i mean, if Mark Knopfler isn't there, i don't think anybody would have the balls to call themselves Dire Straits. thanks for the info anyway

Wow, haven't seen Illsley for a while, looking a bit old these days.
Would be awesome if something came of this, even just some footage of the gig.

John Illsley released his 3rd solo album in 2010, really good it is too, particularly the title track Streets of Heaven, with Mark Knopfler playing throughout the track
