Sorry for posting this so late in the day, but I just completed
this film last night and uploaded it this morning. I'm trying to
post it to people who care.
A year ago today, on September 15th, 2008, Richard Wright passed away.
dreamSTATE was scheduled to play an AMBiENT PiNG concert
later that week. I suggested that we play our opening piece
as an homage to Rick, who had been an important early inspiration
for us, and all agreed. I fashioned a "ping" on my Korg Kaossilator
to begin and we winged it from there.
The concert was filmed and additional footage was later
taped of the moon & water (as Rick loved to sail)
so that in the last week I was able to create a video in
honour of this anniversary of Rick's passing.
We hope that you enjoy the piece and that it may inspire
reveries or memories of Richard Wright, a wonderful and
sensitive musician who was, perhaps, not fully appreciated
in his time. Here is the direct link:

for free download on the album a decade dreaming from the ping things label:

Re: Soundscape for Richard Wright
Despite Rick being fired during the making of The Wall album, he performed at all the original Wall concerts and my wife thought Roger might say a few words in honour of Rick at the first new Wall concert in Toronto as it took place on Sept. 15th, 2010, the second anniversary of Rick's passing.
He did not - but until the final "Thank-you" Roger only "spoke" to the audience in character and there were no encores, so it makes sense that he did not.
I'll give our small tribute to Rick a bump here instead.
In memory...

Re: Soundscape for Richard Wright
Here is another interesting colelction of songs written by Mr Richard Wright (or together with the Pink Floyd). In the beginning is an interesting cover on "The Great Gig in the Sky" with saxophone as lead. Interesting to the point that I think it could had worked on the original record.

It's now been 8 years on the Endless River since Rick passed.
