Figured I might try and get an answer on this, because it's a little puzzling to me.
Is there any particular reason the corners of the Obscured by Clouds record sleeve are rounded off? I'm personally completely lost on why that decision was made.

As good a reason as any, I suppose.

The rounded corners of OBC sleeve symbolize the old 8 mm Footage. Storm Thorgerson explained it once: When they were doing the first footage of the OBC album cover, someone from Hipgnosis set the scale on the camera wrong (8mm). But, when they watched it later they liked it.
Here is an example of the old 8mm footage (rounded corners):

Ohhh that actually makes a lot of sense given the blurred nature of the album cover. Cheers, mate!

Storm used to also tell a story how he and Po were looking through some old 35-mm slides using a battered projector with an ill-fitting lens and one image of a man in a tree became the genesis of the idea for OBC as it had the floating spheres of light and bubbles that were reminiscent of the live shows.

It was quite similar case with the More album cover. They(Hipgnosis) had a new camera they had just bought. But, they didn't know very well how it was working yet. Someone mistakenly put an ‘Orange filter’ on the camera lens instead of the normal one. But they decided they liked it(orange) better than normal one.
