Ok, i am obsessing here but is not "got" a form of "have" and, therefore belongs in The Department of Redundancy Department? It think the alliteration is better the way syd does it. It just sounds right. These days, eglish (as it always has been) is an evolving language and whatis prper today, might not be so in the future, nor might it have been in the past.kjnpf wrote:It is clearly I've got a bike as in I have got a bike. Not formal English language but gramatically correct I believe. What a strange thread we have here.
And believe me, my grammar is not exactly perfect, far from it.

He "got" the bike because he stole it. He doesn't have property rights to it! I mean, if it was his, you could borrow it but, as it stands, you cannot. Perhaps "have" should replace "got" in the future performances of the song?!?!?!grateful pink wrote:Ok, i am obsessing here but is not "got" a form of "have" and, therefore belongs in The Department of Redundancy Department?
