T'was interesting to see Oasis in dgsyd1's Top 10 (Favourite artistes...).
T'was wondering - what do people in the U.S. think of Oasis?
Here in the U.K. they're still very popular, with a lot of fans who make sure everything reaches the Top 2...
What's The Story was Top 5 in America - what aboot the others?
And what did y'all think about Be Here Now?
I didn't think it was that bad, personally...
<Ponders>
And what's the best Oasis album, IYO?
Oasis in the U.S.

Morning Glory is probably better, however, I voted for Be Here Now. I really love the vibes on that record. Magic Pie, Do You Know What I Mean, Stand By Me, and ESPECIALLY All Around the World... all really, really fantastic songs. It's a very underrated record.
They're real popular here but not as popular as they once were. Heathen Chemistry basically got no promotion or press.
My law teacher in high school loved Oasis.. was his favorite band. Along with Wilco, Travis, and a handful of other really great bands that I had no clue about at the time.
They did get some press here when they toured with the Black Crowes on the recent "Brotherly Love" tour which was a cool name since the fights the brothers in the Crowes have had and the fights the Gallagher brothers have had... are legendary. Since the Crowes are now broke up, I guess their fighting got the best of them.
But Oasis... great band. I have a lot of respect for them and find them to be highly underrated.

It was superb being a young british kid and growing up during that brit pop era, Oasis clearly being the best band there and frankly no band has come round fater them and held a candle to that brilliant 2 album run.
Morning Glory was the one i voted, but i prefer Definitly Maybe actually.
Be here now? How did that get a vote?

This is the first time i've been on in ages so i'm guilty of not reading the whole thread.
Have to disagree though pal, Magic Pie may have been good, but let me stop right there.
AATW was possibally the worst example of an over produced song that didn't know when to stop. The song was a pop song for god sake and the lyrics were like a band trying to be oasis!
Underrated? ha ha ha, you do know over here it was the most succesful oasis album critically yeah? ok, so it's reputations dropped now, but the album got so many 5 star reviews upon release, it was ridiculous.

Absolutely. '96 was a fantastic year for me. I remember when 'Don't Look Back In Anger' came out as a single and I saw the video on Top of the Pops. Classic. Good times.David Smith wrote:It was superb being a young british kid and growing up during that brit pop era, Oasis clearly being the best band there

Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Didn't realise Masterplan was a B-sides only compilation. That's why I can't wait for the imminent best-of. I mean, there's sure to be one sooner or later, ain't there. Here's what I'd like to see on it:
Rock 'n' Roll Star
Live Forever
Supersonic
Cigarettes & Alcohol
Slide Away
Whatever
Acquiesce
Roll With It
Wonderwall
Don't Look Back In Anger
Some Might Say
Cast No Shadow (my personal favourite)
The Masterplan
D'You Know What I Mean?
Go Let It Out (COMPLETE SHOW MUST GO ON RIP-OFF!)
The Hindu Times
Little By Little
Songbird
Hmm, that's probably a triple album, but there you go...
