NASHVILLE (Billboard) - The Eagles are nearing completion on their first new studio album since 1979's "The Long Run," which spawned three top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
"They're so close to finishing the record," manager Irving Azoff tells Billboard, adding that the band definitely wants to complete the project before the fall and that a new single, "Hole in the World," may ship during the group's upcoming Farewell 1 tour.
The as-yet-untitled album will be issued on the band's own Eagles Recordings label and may be supported by fall tour dates. As previously reported, the Farewell 1 tour begins May 9 in Richmond, Va. According to Azoff, 33 of 36 shows on the schedule are either sold out or close to it.
Second shows have been added in Atlanta at Philips Arena (May 19-20), in Houston at Compaq Center (June 16-17), and in Philadelphia at the First Union Center (July 8-9). A third concert was added in Boston for the Fleet Center (July 15-16 & 18.Eight more dates are set for August. For information on special ticket options, visit the group's official fan club (http://eagles.launch.yahoo.com) Web site.
The tour will feature the core band as a four-piece consisting of singer/drummer Don Henley (news), singer/guitarist Glen Frey, guitarist Joe Walsh (news), and bassist Timothy B. Schmit (news). The lineup is rounded out by drummer Scott Crago, keyboardist Will Hollis, saxophonist Christian Mostert, and keyboardist Michael Thompson.

It is their last hurrah. They obviously want their children's children's children's children to be set for life.

Hopefully "The Three Who Pretend They Are The Four" won't pull the same stunt...

Well, they won't see any of my money. I can't believe the prices they are getting for tickets. Whatever the market will bear, I guess. I believe that it ruins it for those on a modest income. I usually wait for the summertime to go to festivals so that you get more bang for your buck or quid, or whatever. For me to spend more than $50 on a ticket for one band is ludicrous, especially since I have to travel long distances (at least 5 1/2 hr drives for the biggest bands). They have enough local stuff but alot of these shows are $30 a pop and that is alot of money for me, especially as I have to get 2 tickets for any show I want to go to.

I don't get it. :? Its their farewell tour. It
seems they would want as many people as
possible to attend. This seems to be a tour for
the middle and upperclass . The fill our pockets tour.

With ticket prices that high I won't even buy the album on principle.

What a shame. I wanted to see them last time they toured, but the prices were outrageous then as well. How dare they treat there fans this way?!! Do they think only the wealthy are worthy of seeing them live? I love the Eagles, I wish this didn't have to tarnish my image of them.

*sigh*

I love The Eagles, but have never thought of them as being anything other than power-hungry businessmen! It's an enterprise for those guys. :?
