I have a Fostex four-track that I use as a pre-mixer/interface with my computer, which is loaded with Cakewalk Version 9 and a bunch of plug-ins.
I keep a microphone in one input and a cable in another input. Then, it's just a matter of sliding a fader up or down when it comes to getting a signal to record.
I use a Zoom 505 on my electric guitar and sometimes on the bass (for compression.)
I have a Yamaha keyboard which gives me my drum sounds...and occasionally some keyboard sounds.

My current set up here is Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 on my computer (with Goldwave used for some editing), an M-audio Audiophile 24/96 soundcard, Eurorack UB802 Mixer, a Behringer Tube pre-amp and Apex condenser mic, or sometimes I use an Optimus dynamic mic. Though sometimes I pack up and go record at a friend's in Toronto. Not sure of his exact setup, but he has a full-size professional mixing board and uses Pro-Tools.

Now I got hold of a new multitrack Cool Edit which i'll be using for vol 3, hopefully. Until now, I've been using Cool Edit 2000 to record guitars, bass, keyboards and vocals and Fruity Loops to generate drum track.
But, as i said, I stepped now in the new generation of recording, something like a jump from "with the beatles" to "sgt. pepper"...

How Do You Record?
Interesting to see the different approaches being used by the home/bedroom based musicians.
I use Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro application to record the music. It's very simple and quick to set up. It's audio only though, no MIDI. Its got 32 tracks although I've yet to use more than 8.
I've a half decent soundcard on the PC, a Soundblaster Audigy Platinum, which has lots of inputs.
I use a Line 6 Pod 2 for guitar effects and a Digitech BP50 for bass.
Then for drums and piano I've got a cheap Yamaha keyboard.
Looking forward to hearing the new volumes !!!

how does Arcadian Woodsmen record our stuff
1st thing is the drums.., i use a behringer mixer, all drums are mic'd, along with 2 overheads, seperate hi hat and ride mics.., all the other shit is done direct with no amps.., along with a shit load of LINE 6 gear, a yamaha aw16g...., then everthing goes to the computer.., if any overdubs are needed, they are done at my bass players house.., and it sounds SICK...
