Well, all films in the Classic Albums series are eventually released on DVD, so you'll soon be able to buy it. :P

What is the Classic Album series? Is it something on BBC/not available in the US?

What are the other albums that have already been released on DVD? Is there a website? Are these DVDs available for all regions?

The Classic Albums series started about five years ago, I think. Each episode looks at, yes, a "classic" album, track by track, and features interviews with band members, engineers, producers, and journalists, etc.

They've done Rumours, Electric Ladyland, Songs In The Key Of Life, Graceland, The Band's debut, American Beauty, Metallica's eponymous album, and several others.

It used to be shown in Britain on ITV1; now it seems to have shifted to BBC2, for some reason, which is good, because they don't show TV commercials. :)

They are all released on DVD, and are more often than not well-made, informative and entertaining. The Rumours one was great!

The best element of the series is when they go back to the original multi-tracks and break everything down, to emphasize aspects of the production or the musicianship, etc.

I don't know if they are available in the US, but you should be able to order them. :-s

Thanks for that info, FVP!

Sounds like something VH1 or VH1 Classic should import if they know what's good for them.

Recent Classic Albums Show

Post by bmet »

One of the most recent ones was Deep Purple's Machine Head Album.

When it comes to DVD releases,North America takes longer to receive
Stuff from England.I still have yet to see any notice on HMV.com
of the Syd Barrett Documentary and Pompeii DVD.Also, no word of a Broadcast of the DSOTM Classic Albums Show.
I mean you know....if it isn't about Brittany,JLo,or Avril it's not
broadcastable!!!!! I think I'll check MTV's schedule to see if there
any signs........

Although I really enjoyed the program, I finished watching it a little miserable. Why can't these guys just get along? :(

It saddens me they can't just put it all behind them, after all the years are rollin' on...

Highlight for me was when Dave just started knocking out the Time solo effortlessly, man, I love that!!
