The Fall

Post by nosaj »

I just bought the album I am Curious Oranj again! I had it long ago, but found it hard to find in recent years (I don't buy online). Do we have any fans of the band and/or album?

I like this album...rockin' record, rockin' record, check the guy's track record, rockin' record, rockin' record, check the guy's track record, he is:smt119

I like The Fall. Seen them live on a number of occasions, some good, some bad, all memorable. Hard to say what my favourite thing by them would be (perhaps the B-sides anthology or maybe Bend Sinister) but in truth they're all good. It's Mark E. Smith's wordplay and delivery wot does it for me. Wacky English Proletariat, etc. etc. etc.

I saw them live once - at the Sadlers Wells Theatre along with a contemporary dancer called Michael Clarke and some arty weirdo called Leigh Bowery.

It was all a bit...errr...odd!

It was the wife's idea, honest!

I had a feeling that this would not get many responses - The Fall are not everybody's cup 'o' tea. And Mr. Wilkins, your observation on Mr. Smith's word play and delivery is precisely what makes the Fall interesting - If I were to start a band now, I would borrow that sensibilty.

I've never seen them live, though...then, I'm not sure they've toured these parts much...trying to remember...

Love em, never seen them live either. The last 2 albums have been surprisingly good too, but This Nation's Saving Grace is still my favourite.

Well, the fellow asked if there was a Fall thread in another thread. I can't remember my nosaj password at the moment...actually, there are some people bringing up all these old threads, people will just assume it is me..

ok thanks. the fall are probably my all-time favourite band. mark e smith is the kind of person you either love or hate. the amazing thing about the fall is how fresh they still sound, probably because the personel changes all the time.

I was inspired by Hogtown ah
Breezing through the sideways freeway ah
Listening to Mark E Smith ah
And fell on a strange word ah...

I have been listening to a LOT of the Fall this past week...AH

Love the word play, and it is funny how often "ah" ends a vocal line.

My favourite of theirs is either Shift-Work or The Infotainment Scan - sure, they're at the pop-end of their output but damn good fun.
