Gilmour's official site says there will be no support band, and that the show will come in two parts
Anyone else reckon this means the first half will probably be the new album in it's entirety, and the second more familiar classics?
Either way, less support and longer with Dave. Sounds good to me
SPOILER - Bit of news incase you don't know...

Did you see this in the gilmour blog?
http://davidgilmour.musicblog.co.uk/
We will soon be revealing those musicians who will form David?s band, so stay tuned for news on whether or not Richard will also be going on tour.
Sounds like they are dropping a hint?

A show in two parts... sounds good to me
That makes enough room to play the new album and afterwards to delve into some older material. I'm still hoping he will revive some of the earlier stuff. Cymbaline for instance, or Fat Old Sun... that would be great. Better than a gazillionth rendition of wywh... imo.
And if Rick comes along I hope they will also play some of his solo stuff. I still think Dave's take on Rick's Breakthrough from 2002 is amazing.

"David Gilmour has assembled a brilliant band of world renowned musicians, who will join him to play the sell-out 25 date ?On An Island? tour. The tour, David?s first since the record-breaking 1994 Pink Floyd Division Bell tour, starts in Europe in March, goes to North America in April and returns to the UK at the end of May. ?On An Island?, the wonderful new album, is released on 6 March 2006.
The musicians in David Gilmour?s band are:
Phil Manzanera - Roxy Music guitarist and co-producer of ?On An Island?
Richard Wright - Pink Floyd?s keyboard player
Guy Pratt - bass player with Pink Floyd and Roxy Music
Jon Carin - keyboards and longtime player with Pink Floyd
Steve DiStanislao - drums, recently played with Crosby & Nash
The concert set-list is still to be decided but is likely to combine David?s favourite Pink Floyd tracks with tracks from ?On An Island?."

A 14 min Fat Old Sun with long jam would be really great...ganaffe wrote:A show in two parts... sounds good to me

Rick will be there! That's great news.ReGen wrote:The musicians in David Gilmour?s band are:

Or is this just the band for the opening evening in which he is a guest? I Hope not.

He should let Rick play one or two of his songs.ganaffe wrote:Rick will be there! That's great news.ReGen wrote:The musicians in David Gilmour?s band are:

Anyone got any idea of expected running times of the shows? I'm trying to organise transport for 30th May (RAH) and need to know if a return bus journey at 23:00 will be pushing it too much (which it probably will!). I'm thinking 20:00-22:30 might be a reasonable guess, seeing as there's no support act...?

10 Where We Start
Second half
11 Shine on you crazy diamond
12 Wots... uh the deal
13 wearing the inside out

Wots... Uh The Deal, Wearing The Inside Out... and ECHOES?
Wow. Well, consider me the first person to jump on the first RoIO of this to come out. I wish he'd leave the Rog-based songs alone (Breathe, Time, Shine On); they're Roger's for his tour. You could easily replace them with Fat Old Sun, Summer '68, and On The Turning Away.
Nice to see Dominoes, though. I wonder how he'll tackle Syd's backwards solo. It's no Birdie Hop, but it'll do.
