Is paying 250-500 too much for a ticket?

Post by kurbo »

I am looking to buy some tickets and was wondering what someone thinks is TOO much for a ticket.

2nd row center isle. What is the most someone would pay for this seat single .

I am looking on craigs list and ebay for one and just don't have anything to compare to since I don't know the face value of the tickets. Any ideas or thougts?

The time you'll spend there IMO is well worth it unless it will put you in heavy debt or some stuff like that.

Depends on how badly you want to see the show.

I've never seen Pink Floyd or any solo member live...I don't really care to.

Sure, it would be nice to be in the same room as these guys...but the guys are into a certain amount of regimentation in their shows.

PLUS--this gives a certain assurance of consistently quality shows

MINUS--this means that all the shows have a certain "sameness" about them.

I would only feel that sort of price were justified in this instance if Gilmour where to whip out...say...Cymbaline or Green Is The Colour...or anything pre-DSOTM that isn't a Barrett song (nothing against Syd.)

Something we're pretty sure PF will NEVER again play live.

On An Island is better than I had anticipated...but not as good as I had hoped it might be.

I'm not any more eager to see it performed live than I would be to see PF live.

I wouldn't pay more than 50 USD for ANY show.

Just my fifth of a dime.

I've paid loads for two tickets for RAH - and I don't care - I'm just happy to be going there to see David. Little did I know I'd also be going to the Mermaid - but I'm not complaining!

It will be worth it believe me!!!
However, I personally won't pay huge prices. I really believe the only way to beat these greedy tout bastards is to refuse to pay that much. As long as they can sell them for that, they will continue to buy up all the tickets for profit! And that sucks! I would say keep trying the venue for returns, and failing that there will always be a tout come the night of the show!
OOOOOHH - they make me mad!!!

My brother and I paid $500CDN for a pair of 2nd Gallery for Massey Hall gig , I think we did as best a could be done with regard to prices of what seats are going for here in Toronto. It will be worth the cash.

Anything above face value is unacceptable. How dare anyone profit in such a way from a fellow Floyd/Gilmour fan

This is why scalpers get away with it...because people are willing to pay such prices...as long as they are...scalpers will scoop up all the good tickets and make it impossible for the average person to get a good seat at a concert without having to pay an outrageous amount...when I saw Gilmour in '84, the ticket cost me $15....gosh how times have changed. :smt009

As I remember it, yep. Mostly his solo stuff, I think they only Floydy stuff he did was Comfortably Numb and maybe money. It was nice to hear stuff from his first solo album live.

I heard his solo shows were heavily blues oriented. Is this any more so than the solo albums or pretty much the same? :)
