David the Beach lover?

Post by iwantmypinkfloydnow »

From listining to the album, it seems to me that David loves beaches.

Is that it?

or is there another story behind this album?

There has to be one since the album case is a book.

It seems to me that if there is a "theme" to this album, it is rememiscence of a vaction (or of several vacations) that the Gilmours have taken.

Perhaps it is a fond recollection of a trip they took together when they decided to join their lives.

After all, the last track is called "Where We Begin," or something like that.

Bill Hicks "I hate beaches ... it's where dirt meets water" ... I concur

I do believe while Polly and the kids was on the beach David sat under a olive tree or a palm with his guitar and out of that came some of On An Island.

Come on people, the beach is a metaphor. He is on an island, and its so easy to see its about finding peace. The simple things in life, and love is something that moves true all of it. And its about staying true to those things that make you feel good, and to care for those who stand you near, like here his wife. Its a love album, and its a life album. Seems like he is in peace with himself after playing with Waters again, and he has found true love in his Polly.
