Has anyone noticed?

Post by mosespa »

I was watching Pompeii recently and my wife pointed something out to me that I hadn't bothered to notice in fifteen years of watching it.

In almost every song, Nick is wearing a shirt with a butterfly in the same spot on the shirt.

It's almost the same shirt every time...but it's a different color.

Has anyone else noticed this?

What are your thoughts on it?

Have I done this already?

They're also different sleeve cuts, i.e., one's a tank, another's short sleeved and another still is 3/4 length, I think.

Have no idea what the significance of the butterfly is.

I think the director of Pompeii wanted them to look consistent throughout the movie so when they did the filming in the studio he wanted it to match up as much as possible with the actual on-site filming. Unfortunately, their haircuts and facial hair changes give that away.

I never watched Pompeii, is that a life-video or a studio-video?

It's a performance from 1971 (movie was released...1974?) in an abandonned Roman amphitheatre. No audience. Also some studio outtakes and amusing interviews.

It's required viewing. :)

A bit of both, actually.

It's a concert they did over a period of three days in an old amphitheater in Pompeii with no audience except their sound crew and a camera crew...in between songs, they are shown working on DSOTM in the studio.

Gilmour has recently said that the footage of them working on DSOTM was faked for the cameras...that the album was already in the can before the camera crew got there.

It's worth having if you can find a copy of it.

Actually the "directors cut" is what is being released on DVD, with more extras and behind the scenes footage.

But don't you think that when they will release Pompeii on DVD it will loose ROIO status?

Thats kind of true but the first release of the Pompeii did not have the interviews it only had the music. On its re-release it was released in the version seen in the cinama.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I would be extremely pleased to see The Wall Live At Earls Court lose it's VOIO status.

EXTREMELY PLEASED!!!!

But doesn't it make us special to have materials which aren't obtainable for others :?: And if they will be released officially they will become "commercial".
