It was 1975. Nothing since then and until '94.
this certainly does prove something
it proves when he stopped contributing they lost that signature sound
then it turned into the Roger and Dave show and was all about their duelling visions for the bands future
Ricks too humble a guy to claim he was Pink so we all ignore what he did and take sides with one of the two loudmouths
but once Rick receded to the sidelines they never sounded the same again

I agree 100% and could not have said it any better J Ed.

That's completely subjective, and I'd rather hear Take a Pebble over Us and Them any day. The former is much more interesting and I think that it sounds better.

Of course, I was talking merely about the chords, not about the song quality. I prefer the progressiveness and the overall feel of Take a Pebble over U&T.
Actually, I was thinking last night...those early jam songs like Embryo, Cymbaline, Fat Old Sun were soooo cool live, because of the trippy keyboard work. Yeah Richard! I saw eyeballs in my finger tips!!!
The real unsung hero is Nick. He is the common denominator throughout the whole band. and think about this: only as Nicks drumming ability left him did the band start getting worse

This is so true. Without the ultra-cool rotary organ sound in the background of The Embryo, it would sound so empty. And the live versions of Fat Old Sun were basically defined by the keyboard parts, so it would have been terrible without him.
Oh, and Careful With That Axe, Eugene. The keyboards make that worth listening to, because it would lose all of its texture without them.
