I think you just have to listen to the album and figure it out.

it's a concept album rick wrote due to his wife's depression, so it is very emotionally charged, great stuff!!

Gotta say i find it a really rather boring album in places and not something i will be returning to very often.

Some of it is very atmospheric and really works but there's just not many stand out tracks and it lasts way too long without much really happening IMO... Would have liked to hear a bit of piano too rather than just synth and drum machines. Pales in comparisson to OAI or TDB i reckon

Loved Break Through though :D

Yes, it gets a bit boring at some tracks... but there's some very good stuff in it, absolutely.

Yes, there's too much synth in, but where did you hear a drum machine? There's just a few sequencers at certain points if you meant that. I knew Manu Katche was a good and precise drummer, but this is the first time I heard somebody actually mistaking him for a drum machine?! :?

Yeah, mixing the two of them up.

Had a relisten to the songs i thought had drum machine and it is just sequencers

Still, shall change my opinion to just not liking the production on it

I didn't say I liked the production... It's kind of blurred too much.

Actually there's four or five songs from that album I can listen to once in a while, and out of fifteen it's a pretty low percentage that you could call an album good.

When I think of it, it comes third on my list of Pink Floyd solo records, right after Waters' Amused To Death and Radio K.A.O.S. Still, even Amused To Death, which is my favourite Floyd solo album of all time, has a couple of songs I can't bear to listen, such as Late Home Tonight Parts 1 & 2. I'd dare to say these two are the worst two songs ever recorded by any Floyd member in their solo careers.

Yes it is a concept album...I saw Ricks EPK for it.

I love this album for many reasons...and also it is the nice bridge between the gap of Division Bell and On An Island.

And what about a ten year gap between 'Broken China' and 'On An Island'? :?

I love that album, it's truely a masterpiece IMO. It has a similar feel to WYWH, it's a very special album for me. Rick rules!!!

I'm a fan of 'Broken China', but I think it suffers a bit from "CD-length syndrome": instead of being a *great* 40 minute album, it's a good 60 minute album... :smt034 =;

I still think the idea that it is a concept album is flimsy.
