Lovely bass pix on this thread. For me there is just one bass more beautiful than a sunburst Fender P, and that is a black Rickenbacker with white scratchplate and rosewood neck. Beautiful; it's (almost) better than sex!!!!!

I love Rics, I have 3 Ric basses and 1 Ric guitar. No Jetglo tho', I don't really care for black guitars.

I love black Precisions, but prefer white scratchplates, as opposed to the one Roger has currently got. Funnily enough Dave is currently playing (at least on the DVD Wiped sent me) a black Strat with black scratchplate.

Does their rivalry even extend to their weapons of choice?

Now my Ric has gone, I am playing a black Ibanez Precision copy. Now very cool, but very nice sound through the Roland Cube.

I've seen a vid with Dave on a black/black Strat, it had white pickups and knobs.
I just remembered, I do have a black guitar, it's a Jerry Jones electric sitar.

Hmm...that's a pretty bad photo, here's a better one, of most of my basses(the sunburst P had yet to be aquirred), and somehow my Ric guitar got in there. :o

Thanks! It took a 6-pack of Shiners before I worked up the courage to splatter paint all over a perfectly good Ric bass.

Back onto Roger's basses, I have just watched the Forum Musiques footage from 15th February 1969, and I see Rog is "playing" (or rather miming with) a Fender Jazz bass. Hard to tell the colour as this is B&W footage, but it looks like white or cream. I have never seen any other photos or footage of him with a Jazz bass.

It is on that vine of PF on French TV '68-'69 that is doing the rounds. It is possibly not too late to sign up for it. See the vines forum for further info.
