What Roger should do next....

Post by henno »

Driving into work this morning i was just musing over the last two shows ive seen Roger play... while the 'in the flesh' tour was a great mix of all the old hits, the last one trumped it for me with DSOTM played in full..... and i got to thinking... i know he'll be taking 2008 easy, he says so in the latest UNCUT..... what should he do next...

and then it hit me with such glaring obviousness (?) that i cant believe he hasnt done it already......

Bring THE FINAL CUT complete album live to us all.....

now, before ye all start jumping in and saying 'mainstream fans dont know or like it as an album'... i just have to cast my mind back to that great gig in the Marquee in Cork.... where every song was met with great cheer....and even his solo stuff (which was clearly not well known during the 2002 tour) had every note and word sang.... which surprised me a lot...

so i believe theres a big demand out there for TFC to be played live....

and lets admit that its basically a Roger solo album anyway..

anyone any opinions on this???

i would rather prefer him to sit down and FINALLY finish his new album and bring that one to us live. A lot of TFC has already been done live so i´d like to hear some new stuff. Or maybe the complete Amused to Death album.

I wish he'd start respecting himself as a songwriter again. He seems extremely uncomfortable with his post-Final Cut work, and ever since '92 any new songs typically are toyed with for seconds and dropped. He won't even play his new single live.
He also clearly has had enough material to compose an album since '02, but he won't.
As a result, his show typically sounds like (and, musically, is) a cover band for most of the show.

I'd love to see a show where the majority (or at least half) of it is solo material and the other half was sung by him. I don't really want Money, Have A Cigar, Comfortably Numb, and Us And Them being sung by random guys- if I did, I could see The Machine or something for a lot cheaper. I'd love Grantchester Meadows, San Tropez, Radio Waves, and The Bravery Of Being Out Of Range by the original singer (which he can still sing; I'm not even asking for The Final Cut).

What I wish Roger would do next is realize that the reason his Pre Final Cut Work was so outstanding is he had 3 other artists adding colors to the landscape.... :) JMO

I think he and Guthrie should go back to the original multi-track tapes of The Wall and remix them with the original running order (before the limitations of vinyl were imposed) restored.

Roger should take a public speaking and diplomacy course.

No he shouldn't. His arrogance is what makes him.

Quite. We all remember his vocals on the Live8 version of Wish You Were Here.
