Current Screen Films

Post by mhspiper »

Could somebody please describe to me each of the current screen films? I've not seen Roger on this tour (or ever), and probably won't get the chance this time around. What are they like?

I'd reccomend getting a good bootleg, but...

ITF: Marching hammers.

MOTHER: The room with the radio in it, with some guy sitting in a chair.

SHINE ON: Stars, and then distorted stock footage of Syd.

LEAVING BEIRUT: A comic illustrating the song.

HAVE A CIGAR: Fast-moving images of cities, cars, and money.

WISH YOU WERE HERE: A field of lit candles and falling rosepetals.

SET THE CONTROLS: 2002 film, with the Arnold Layne/Scarecrow screenshots and bubbling oil.

THE GUNNER'S DREAM: The standing Final Cut soldier with the knife in his back, followed by a ship.

SOUTHAMPTON DOCK: Various navy ships.

THE FLETCHER MEMORIAL HOME: A run-down asylum with quotes by people Rog doesn't like scrawled on the wall, with one guy standing in the middle under a disco ball.

PERFECT SENSE: The 2002 film; the astronaut followed by the stadium and submarine battle.

SHEEP: People looking sheeplike in a park.

SPEAK TO ME: A satellite over the moon.

BREATHE: No screen film.

ON THE RUN: The DSotM rainbow flying in circles into an orange "wormhole", interjected with animations of loud engine-having things running past.

TIME: The original '74 film followed by an image of a guy smoking pot.

THE GREAT GIG IN THE SKY: The "wave" backdrop.

MONEY: I am fairly certain it's the original film.

US AND THEM: Original film.

ANY COLOUR YOU LIKE: The rainbow flying around.

BRAIN DAMAGE: Flying brains and pills.

ECLIPSE: A moon with various bits of stock footage related to the lyrics superimposed on it (featuring George Bush on "all that you hate"). Then the satellite floating around the moon.

HDooL/ABITW: Images of the Berlin Wall area.

COMFORTABLY NUMB: A guy smoking pot and a reel-to-reel tape deck with one busted motor.

If its the screens you want, get the madison square garden show. If its the best concert footage, get the Cork show. If its proof of lipsyncing you require get Rio. If you want the worst of the bunch, get Hyde Park.

"The Pentagon Pig Tapes Vol. 1" is just amazing. One camera was on an equal level and pointed straight at the projector showing the band, which means it's pretty much pro shot (and none of the perspective issues you'd imagine in a projector-shot bootleg exist, as it's a pefect screen-filling zoom on a tripod). It's a 2-cam mix, which means when the projector was boring it cuts to something interesting.

It has the best screen/band combination ever.
