something i'm sure we wont have to worry about on Rick's new album "she sits in a pot on the shelf" his follow up to "broken china" although i think the albums should have been released the other way round.moom wrote:Constant distortion actually even irritates me.

RICK WRIGHT HINTS AT SOLO ALBUM
Floyd keyboardist reveals plans in Reuters interview
Pink Floyd co-founder and keyboardist Rick Wright says he plans to release a solo album, perhaps next year.
He talked about his plans during an interview Friday with Reuters.
"I'm going to do an instrumental album, based on the piano, and I've (got) loads of stuff recorded," he says. "It depends how I treat the piano, and whether I need other musicians to play on it. I've got the compositions down. But it's not imminent -- hopefully next year."
It would be the fourth album Wright recorded outside Pink Floyd, following "Wet Dream" (1978); Broken China (1996); and "Identity" (1984), an album released under the moniker Zee, a duo that included guitarist Dave Harris.

Wow, that sounds like it might actually be worth listening to. He must have realised that he can no longer sing.

Sounds about as exciting as "Ca Ira". Why do they keep the fans waiting decades for new material, then when they finally do record something, it is in a style likely to disappoint about 95% of their fanbase?
Perhaps it is because they are rich enough to do whatever they want?!

It could be quite good. I was actually reading his Broken China site yesterday, and way back in 1997 he was mentioning that he had already recorded stuff for his next solo album...he probably has tonnes of stuff. The interview he did recently suggests he may actually have a band on it after all...then again, maybe not. I for one would have prefered Ca Ira not be an opera, basically I can't get past the singing...but instrumental is fine by me.Pat Albertson wrote:Sounds about as exciting as "Ca Ira". I'm pretty excited about this. With all the material, perhaps we'll get a double album?

I'll withhold judgment until I hear the music. It could be nice as long as he doesn't decide to do a Jean Michel Jarre and do Syspyhus parts 4-8

Well, an instrumental album. It'll definitely show off his huge importance to the Floyd, with him doing what most think he does best. He's a killer keyboardist, so let's hope he covers all his bases (synth, organ, piano, vibes).
I, for one, love his songwriting and singing. I wish he'd at least do one or two songs with lyrics... heck, he could re-record Zee: Identity with the OAI band and I'd be happy.

I love Sysyphus...so parts 4-8 would be cool to me.snifferdog wrote:I'll withhold judgment until I hear the music. It could be nice as long as he doesn't decide to do a Jean Michel Jarre and do Syspyhus parts 4-8
It looks like a piano album Tenniru.

this doesn´t sound good to me.... the instrumentals are the weakest of Broken China in my opinion

I share your opinion. Although I liked Broken China, the instrumentals on it were unlistenable.
