A new book from Nick in October

Post by snifferdog »

Was browsing through Amazon earlier and came across this

I'm still trying to make up my mind as to whether the book title - Dark Side of the Spoon: Recipes and Memories from the World of Rock 'n' Roll - is inspired or cr&p.

Synopsis
Nick Mason is no novice when it comes to food. Alongside music and cars, good food has been one of the passions of his life. He has studied at Raymond Blanc's Manoir aux Quatre Saisons cookery school, he is a shareholder and director of Smith's at Smithfields (John Torode's acclaimed restaurant), and a great dinner party host who performs in the kitchen with panache. The 90 recipes are divided into Support Acts (starters), Headliners (main courses) and Encores (desserts). Each recipe is tried and tested and with a story or anecdote to garnish it. And along the way Nick tells the story of rock n roll cuisine from its early, non-existent days when bands made do with the local working man's caff through to the exquisitely prepared complex dishes that are an essential part of touring today.

About the Author
Nick Mason was a founder member of Pink Floyd as drummer/percussionist. He is the only member of the band to survive from its foundation and has played on every Pink Floyd album. He has produced music for TV commercials and played and produced several albums for other bands. His solo album NICK MASON'S FICTICIOUS SPORTS was released in 1981. His other passion is motor cars and he has taken part in the Le Mans 24-hour race. For years he has accumulated images and memorabilia associated with the band with a view to writing their definitive history.

Aw, that's nice of you, Bran. I don't think he was hot past the age of about 30, but it's touching that you're still keen on him.

I met Nick Mason at a book signing and he is as hilarious and absurd as he is a gentleman and a hell raising rocker. Very funny guy and only Nick has the type of insane humor and instinct to get a book like this and sell large quantities---a marketing genius, Mr. Mason.
