That happened to me this year. I lost my precious Piper.
I sulked. I wanted to trash my house. I searched everywhere. I considered it gone, and I was getting ready to replace it, until I cleaned up my room after finishing my term at Uni, and...I found it! So now I ain't angry anymore.
And I listen to it more than ever (I really came to miss it!)

My vinyl is all backed up on reel to reel...(How old am I?) Losing one of them would still tear me up, but, as for cd's, I'd just fetch me a new one...

i'd eventually buy it. but it'd be hard for me to lose it. I back up all the cd's i buy and bring that version around with me and keep the real copy at home.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, they're all on easily-replaceable CDs, nothing collectors itemsish about them...although spending $15 for *anything* that you lose sucks.

That has happened to me. When I was young and I travelled with my school class to Turkey I had my CD-player and 13 CD's with me. (they all had very special emotional value for me, one of the CD's and the player I had bought from USA) and they got stolen. I don't think I could handle anymore that kind of emotional shocks, so I think I would go nuts. Or I would buy new one...
