great topic great postsDamn!t wrote:Yes Sean...but thats the thing...as time went on and Rog whas taking more and more "dominance" of the band, music itself fell on the second place.mosespa wrote:...but the fact that as time went on, Waters name was unaccompanied by Gilmour and/or Wright indicates that although their styles added colour, Gilmour and Wright weren't adding anything of substance to the songs.
Dont think that i dont appreciate Waters...not at all...i think he is a genious for his concepts and the words he wrote, but the tune and the feel of the music itself whas no longer that important. The important thing whas to tell a story through the words that he wrote from the experiances that he had.
I agree with SS's theory about tyrannical boss. Gilmour and Wright got lazy couse they where tired of making their own point about whats right or wrong in the band, the music, the what ever...
Gilmour had his moments of glory on the Waters albums, such as comfortably numb or run like hell, young lust...and to be honest, without these songs, the wall would sound, well not so good... imagine how the wall would sound if the four of them all together worked on it. Better, thats for sure. Waters story could still be told, but with more comfortable background for your ears.
I'm not trying to convince you into something, couse thats allmost impossible (lol)...just saying what i think. "together we stand, divided we fall".
They didn't bash the press in their songs so much as they showed such a general dislike and disgust for the press. They even went to far as to mail a nicely gift wrapped box of shit to one journalist. As a result, they have been sort of "black balled" from favorable treatment by most of the press. The Rolling Stone Magazine doesn't usually give them favorable reviews because of their refusal to kiss Jann Wenner's ass.lostplay wrote: [[what song's does pf bash the press ?? or songs ?? ]]
