I thought the same thing lostplay, as the singing voice with its bluesy and somewhat raspy tone is unlike other Syd songs, but it is Syd, circa 1965.

The guitar work rang heavily of Bob Klose, but Syd definitely sang the song. If you listen to Lucy Leave and then Candy and a Current Bun you can hear the same infliction in his singing voice.

Undoubtedly Syd.

A - Candy and a Currant Bun.... and momentary lapse of reason!

B - Mmm not off the top of my head. They are written about in most books about Pink Floyd's history though. Try Echoes: The Complete History of Pink Floyd by Glenn Povey.

9 - ??

I agree, it is one of early Floyd's best songs IMO. What a terrific B side song.

yes the cover of King Bee, which is usually paired with Lucy on most boots
eg Harvesteds Dawn of the Piper

Nick discusses this in his book:
both songs came from an early (1965?) demo tape
there were two others noones heard yet: Butterfly and Double Oh Bo
the latter is described as a mashup of Hey Bo Diddly and the James Bond theme

now whether the two songs weve heard are the same recordings Nick mentions is a valid question
people have been debating this for a decade now but consensus seems to be theyre authentic

I remember I had the same issue the 1st time I bought a silver CD boot of Starclub Phyco
it sounded so raw and sloppy and unlike anything Id ever heard by Floyd
I suspected it was just some kids in their garage jamming a couple of Syd era toons alongside their own feedback jams
and I returned it to the store

only after much reading on the Internet was I persuaded that was what Syds Floyd sounded like back in the day
