Pink Floyd Tribute Bands Database on NPF

I was thinking about the Pink Floyd Concert Database I was thinking of designing earlier this year and am thinking of starting off a little more conservatively by having a Pink Floyd Tribute database instead!

Bands would be able to open up an "account" then post their gigs onto the site. Visitors to the site can then browse through the gigs by band, country, city, venue and date.

Anybody got any thoughts on this? Would any bands be interested?

That's a damn good idea, Keith. If I were part of a tribute band, I would be one of the first to sign up. It's a wonderful way to provide a meeting hub for tribute bands, as well as a reference point for people who wonder how many tribute bands are out there and what they are all about.

Keith, I actually already attempt to do something similar on Pink Floyd Online (the results of which I've posted here a few times). I would be happy to share my data with you -- however, it's already quite an effort for me to maintain my information so, other than Which One's Pink?, I really don't want the task of separately inputting the data into your database. The idea would be the bands themselves can input their own shows into the database. They would have their own login details! That would make it easy for me to maintain!!

This is actually a growing practice on the internet lately, bands promoting themselves, so it would be really easy for a group to create an account, enter info into a database and update it as necessary. It would also help to have links to the band's web page, sample tracks, etc. All hot linking of course.

I understood what the idea was. I can tell you that I rely on the bands' fans more than the bands themselves because some of the bands don't contribute directly. You may want to allow a fan to sign up to submit info for their band.

Did this ever get developed? If not this can easily be done on the Pink Floyd Concert Database http://www.pf-db.com. It already has the ability to add other bands, members, etc... even multiple bands at the same show. Any registered user can add to an existing date, and I can make any registered user a mod for any particular band. Everything is easily editable. If you even desire you can create a theme for your own band, as all of the design is controlled by css.
