Why don't we ask people to post their songlists and see which one of them suites best :)

Because I don't want to stretch this out anymore. It's not that important of a decision. I could have just as easily chosen the tracks myself but I wanted to get everyone involved. One week is enough though. People really weren't that interested anyway over all. Time to move on.

Is the lead vocal on "Mortality" supposed to sound like that? I mean the WYWH intro radio sound?

Yes, that was the general idea.

Interesting effect.

There's definitely some quality songwriting on this forthcoming album. Is it possible to download MP3s of the demos?

Yes, at: http://backtosquareone.bravehost.com/

Which makes me think the site needs to be updated. It's the main location of Charybdis on the net. It should maybe have links through to the tracks on Artistopia, etc.

Concerning Hourglass Suite ... do my ears mislead me or does someone very much like FM synthesis?

(I'm a fan of FM Synthesis, I still think we haven't got anywhere near exploring what it's capable of yet).

Yes. Moom built the track in FL Studio, which has a pretty decent FM synth plugin.

FL is really good when it comes to space-rock and electronic music, in those cases I give it 100/100 :D !

Most people steer clear of FL Studio only because it is so different compared to other DAWs. I'm glad you mentioned that though because it gives me even more faith in the fact that it's not what you have but how you use it. Not saying that FL Studio is an inferior product, just that it can produce professional quality results when you know it inside and out.

The original demos were done on Sony Acid. About halfway through the demos, I got Reason and Tracktion. I recorded in Tracktion and mixed in Reason. When I started compiling the album tracks after the demo stages, I started doing everything with Tracktion. I found that it is what I am most comfortable with for editing and mixing.

The funny thing is that I haven't messed with FL Studio for about a year. It wasn't until moom told me that he uses it that I loaded my copy onto this computer and re-registered it, mainly to accommodate his stuff. Boy, did I forget just how different it is after getting accustomed to using Tracktion and Reason so much recently.

Hehe, I know lots of Pros who are using FL now, I still use Samplitude for some things as its' audio engine in very hi quality, FLs' ability to Rewire with most other DAWs is a big plus.
But nail and head, its learning to use the thing to its strengths that is the secret, whatever you use.

Exactly. I always make it a point to tell everyone who is interested that when they start using a new DAW to learn it inside and out, thoroughly familiarizing themselves with absolutely everything it can do, because that's what makes the difference and helps people do some amazing things sometimes to transcend its limitations.
