Charybdis - Spoken Phrases For Hourglass Suite

Post by bpmolder »

Any ideas of what to include for spoken phrases on Hourglass Suite to make it more like a DSOTM type of composition? The piece is over 16 minutes, so we could fit a whole bunch of things in there. If you have any ideas for deep, kooky, wacky or whatever phrases, please share them here. After we get enough of them together, we can get some voice parts recorded that I will add to Hourglass Suite. Cool?

Dude...not to increase your workload, or anything

...but, if these bits are scripted out beforehand, there's a chance that they might come out sounding a little "forced" or something.

However, if we decide to go with scripting things out, I'd like to offer up the saying "time is nature's way of keeping everything from happening at once."

if you record some questions and send them round or put them in a spot to download from then i guess we could just record the first thing that comes to our minds after we heard them

Good idea, Duckboy. Questions would be good. I'm sure we could come up with some really good ones that would get a good variation of spontaneous answers.

This is as good a place to start as any, I think. Anyone want to bump it back up?

randomly sample some of the things said in some of the fun and games threads - there should be more than enough material and it is all spontaneous.

Good thing, Sean :) . But let's not bump it up, but keep every info on THIS project in appropriate topics, already created, such as this one ;) .

I'd say:

Have you ever had an hourglass? Yes, but I broke it. Oh, good times...
What is time? The flow of the sand in an hourglass.
What is a sand? Well, it slips through one's hands.
Like money? Right. And like time.
So, basically, Money equals sand equals time, right? Yes. And it equals your life.

What about some lines from Edward Lear poems split up and taken out of context?

Edit: I wouldn't mind recording a few things either. I have access to proper mics and a proper recording studio. I even have access to proper purpose built pop filters, rather than pairs of old tights stretched across a coat hanger.

That's so Floyd! :D

That's a great idea, and we should also have as much voices as possible. It should sound something like "Repentance" from Dream Theater's last album, if you heard that one.
