New Syd Barrett/Early Pink Floyd Film

Post by theshockofthenew »

A "new" film of early Pink Floyd has suddenly become available. Those of you with a Rapidshare account will be able to download it. Looks pretty interesting...

Why is it obsessive? There are so few films of Syd-era Floyd that exist and they are all of such poor quality. If something decent is unearthed, it would be interest to any fan of early Pink Floyd.

Nope! I'm proud to be one of those "obsessive" Barrett fans you speak of. If you don't dig the film, don't download it. Sounds simple enough to me.

Btw, you're welcome, Teresa!

Nooooooo, that film's the equivalent of The Satanic Bible in the land of Syd. Seen it, but I have to say, it's one of the saddest examples of exploitation I have ever come across.
I do have quite a bit though.

Because it's not performance related ... he's just running around on a beach .... if footage was unearthed of him taking a dump , would you want to watch ? .. seems just as pointless to me ... each to their own ... I guess Im alone on this one ...

I have to agree there. I didn't even watch the whole thing. It was making me dizzy and giving me a headache.

You dont think its left overs from one of there early film shoots - there is a scene in one of the films with the band prancing around on the beach - Arnold Layne I think

You know, I didn't post this to inspire a discussion on the point of it; I posted it so those of you who enjoy early Floyd can check out a rare piece of film of them - that's all. If you didn't enjoy it, that's fine, but is it really necessary to post about how much it sucks?

Btw, no where in my introduction do I mention that it’s a live performance or that it’s some major film. There’s so little footage of them from that period that I thought I’d pass on some “new” footage no matter how small.
