I have been playing around with the content management system Joomla and like it!! I am thinking of using it to run the NPF website!! The forum and photo gallery would probably just stay as they are, just change the links etc.
I have it installed on my laptop and just uploaded a copy to the NPF server so people can see it.
1 - If most people like it, I will load the NPF News Archive into it
2 - I will add all the magazine articles to it. Note: articles can then be published when they are ready instead of waiting years for enough articles to be published.
3 - It allows me to post news a lot quicker than my current methods so there will likely be more news!
4 - I haven't finished adjusting the look of the template on the new site yet.
So.... what do you think of the idea/site?

It looks good, but you should change the poll so that people are only allowed to vote for Syd Barrett.

Re: New Look NPF Website....
So you think it would be a good idea to move the site over to that from what it is now? I do. I think the main NPF site is looking a bit "dated" to say the least, I think this would give it some new life!!

I like the new look. It's very clean looking. I'd like to see a few more photos in it but I assume it's still early days for you. But overall I'm impressed.

Yes, it will have a lot more photos in it once I have it finished and ready to go live. One good thing is that, if some people want to step up and perhaps help write news, I can set them up an account. Or add other things. Its very nice for collaboration like that!
I am really impressed with it.

Re: New Look NPF Website....
Not to be a killjoy, but I think it looks rather generic.
Question: Would this move bring back the Cobalt option for the forum? If so, then I'm in favor of it. If not...well...I think it looks rather boring, imo.
But that's just me.

Re: New Look NPF Website....
I don't like how it looks etheir, I much prefer the slim "one column" feel of the current one.
That's my 2 cents Keith.

The one column one is restrictive! Anyway, with the bits on the left and right of the "new" version, the actual content sits in the middle like the current version.

Looks good, and will look better when you get around to choosing the colour template.

And I feared I was the only one not able to see it. I'm relieved now.Keith Jordan wrote:I just broke it! SO its offline for now. I will add it back in a few hours. I need sleep! Its 4:18am!
I don't mind the site being renewed, though it's always a bit hard to get used and let loose the old.
