in my opinion his best solo album. Not boring like OaI and no terrible 80s production like About Face. i actually like this album quite a lot, it sounds like the "old" Floyd just before Dark Side to me.
Probably his best solo album, but I can see why none of it made it onto a Pink Floyd record. It just feels like one big jam session at times. Not that, that is a bad thing, but it is certainly not the hallmark of a great record...
Dave's best work IMO too. Great melodies...No Way is addicting. I prefer Rick's entire solo career and Roger's Ça Ira, ATD and PACOHH to this one though. But then, it is unfair to compare, Dave's album is not conceptual, it is just a good album, with good rock songs, and a great voice.
I think "There's no way out of here" is the best song on the album, even though the guitar sound is beyond horrible. It sounds like David was playing through a little hand held amp that runs on batteries; it was muffled, furry, and bright at the same time.
I heard it a couple of times, wasn't impressed at all. Going to listen to it again to give a more articulate opinion. I would describe it as uninspired music yet pleasent listening.
edit: is funny if you interpolate songs from Wet Dream on it, they all seem as part of the same album, even share some of the melodies!
This is a very enjoyable album...I wouldn't rate it as a classic, but it does have some great tunes on it...I always loved the opening instrumental Mihalis.
Well, I will give this album a 5 if no one will. It's a great album that holds up well from beginning to end with no really weak points, unlike Gilmour's other solo work. Possibly the only thing that annoys me on the album is that "I Can't Breathe No More" is too short.
