I like his solo albums better. That doesn't mean I don't like "The Piper" or the singles.

heh i can't answer this now, i am still trying to get into his stuff. Piper is my least favorite PF album, but i think that his solo career may be more interesting. Still need to pay more attention to it. Not a fan currently though.

I like the 66-70 era the most.
I wish I could say I like the 71-74 era equally, but haven't heard much of it yet.

Solo era is great, but a bit bleak compared to Piper/'68 recordings/singles...

Sorry to say I can't get into his stuff. I've tried but for me it leaves me cold.

Jugband Blues, Vegetable Man and Scream Thy Last Scream were all recorded in ´67. There´s no evidence Syd´s guitar is on Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun (recorded also in ´67 but overdubbed in ´68).moom wrote: Jugband Blues, Veggie, Scream... supposedly Controls...
My source is Random Precision (recording the music of Syd Barrett 1965-1974) by David Parker, what is yours ?

No source, I did not mean a year they were recorded, but one when they were released or were supposed to be released. Also, that's why I said "supposedly" about STCFTHOTS.zag wrote:Jugband Blues, Vegetable Man and Scream Thy Last Scream were all recorded in ´67. Re: Syd's music: Which era do you like best?
there are 1968 recordings on Opel arent there?
just not the leftover Floyd tracks Mooms talking about
I voted for his career with Floyd
he was able to communicate the sounds he heard in his head and was able to work musically with the others in the band
as fascinating as those solo albums are, he seems to be only giving us hints of what he's imagining, fighting not only his wouldbe collaborators but even himself to keep those songs from getting out into shared consensus reality

A few of them, yes. I know "Clowns And Jugglers", "Swan Lee" and the instrumental version of "Golden Hair" were recorded in 1968. There must be another song or two but I can't remember which.J Ed wrote:there are 1968 recordings on Opel arent there?
