I like the solo era best. I love his lyrics they are so vulnerable and self-revealing, sad and beutiful at the same time Musically i think Piper is better.

Yes, and Late Night from the Madcap too, no?Hudini wrote:A few of them, yes. I know "Clowns And Jugglers", "Swan Lee" and the instrumental version of "Golden Hair" were recorded in 1968. There must be another song or two but I can't remember which.J Ed wrote:there are 1968 recordings on Opel arent there?
In fact, the 1968 recordings sounded very promising to me.

In a 1993 interview with guitar world David Gilmour mentions that Syd played on Remember a Day and a "tiny bit" of Set The Controls. I have a few roios from '67 where syd jams set the controls with the rest of the band, so I think its fair to say he had some contribution to its development.zag wrote:Jugband Blues, Vegetable Man and Scream Thy Last Scream were all recorded in ´67. There´s no evidence Syd´s guitar is on Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun (recorded also in ´67 but overdubbed in ´68).moom wrote: Jugband Blues, Veggie, Scream... supposedly Controls...
My source is Random Precision (recording the music of Syd Barrett 1965-1974) by David Parker, what is yours ?

I like Madcap Laughs and Barrett as much as The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Thus I can only say "equally".
