I ain't scared.

But, keeping discussion of this topic going, how many songs do we have? Who's doing what?

Speak up, folks; so I can know what to expect. :D

Tanner's already submitted one song and another set of lyrics which I'll be composing music for.

Is there anyone else getting songs together for this?

How about suggestions for a title?

Remember, we're imagining that instead of Ummagumma, PF released a whole new album of material circa 1969 (when Ummagumma was released.)

Looking at the year 1969 could yield some ideas...here's one.

Teignmouth Electron
July 10 - Donald Crowhurst's trimaran Teignmouth Electron is found drifting and unoccupied. It is assumed that Crowhurst might have committed suicide.
Anyone else?

I'd never heard of Donald Crowhurst. What an interesting story! Seems he was obsessed with the number 243. 8-[ Sorry, I just had to take this one guys!

243

Two hundred and forty three days had now passed
Since the day he had started the race-
Two hundred and forty three ships round the world
But still he remained in first place-

Two hundred and forty three hours ago
Was the last time he'd slept in his bed-
For two hundred forty three voices too loud
Tried to talk all at once in his head-

And two hundred forty three miles he sailed
And all in one nautical day-
And he marked it all down in the log which he kept
On the two hundred forty third page-

Two hundred and forty three flashes went off
As he finished the race in his mind-
And he tipped a large glass as he sat back to drink
That two hundred forty three year old wine-

Two hundred forty three friends in his head
Greeted him at the edge of that plank-
But two hundred forty three feet down below
Donald sank to his watery grave-

I talked to my band last week and we are good with the May 15th deadline. I was going to shelve Anjanine, but it sounds like a few people would like to hear a finished version of it, so we'll work on that, but we might do another instrumental cut as well. The thing is, we have a guy in our band who plays flute, and Floyd never used flute (the closet was the Mellotron flute on Julia Dream). Originally I suggested we do an album "inspired by" the sounds of early Floyd, but it seems from reading that it is now more to be a "lost" Pink Floyd album. So I'm not sure what to do. Should I tell our flautist to take a hike for these recordings because his instrument doesn't fit the sound, or can we have a little more freedom with what we're doing here. What do you guys think?

But they did, Lindy Mason played one on "Grand Vizier's Garden Party".

Anyway, just because Floyd didn't use flute frequently doesn't necessarily mean they didn't have a couple of flute solos on that lost 1969 album.

Absolutely.

I mean, by 1973, they were having saxophone solos in songs...and no sax player in the band.

The choir and orchestra on AHM weren't part of the band; so they obviously weren't averse to bringing in outside musicians to do things they might have wanted to do, but couldn't themselves. :D

I'm going to create some new piece. I think of doing a less long one, and more upbeat. :)

I'm almost done with it.

It's a lot of electronica, if you don't mind.

It's called Silent Moves.

I'm also working on patching up my instrumental together. I want to make it sound like it came right out of 1969 and I just can't get the right sound on my Ibanez. I think I'll go and borrow a Strat somewhere.
