This Could Work...

Post by mosespa »

In this thread, davidjay hits upon what I think is a rather brilliant idea to help the next NPF Tribute Project progress.

Let's assemble some of the more creative (less silly) bootleg titles into a track listing. Then, we can start writing songs around the titles.

This is how Double Core came together. Maybe it can work again? :D

I like:

Empty Room
Cold Flesh
and
See You Outside

Anyone else wanna get in on this?

It doesn't have to be a title from that thread...just a bootleg title that seems like an actual song title.

I'd like to do something with "Farewell Old World", although "Ice Cream" is rather tempting as well...

Momma loves the Coldstone
And daddy loves it too...
And Dairy Queen may look good to you babe
When it's a hundred and two...

But oooh, babe

If you should go eating that cone
With the mint chocolate flakes all inside
Dragging along you a banana nut split
And a milkshake coming along for the ride

Don't be surprised, when your pants get to tight
And you can no longer look down at your feet
And you grab you the mail, and it shakes the Richter scale
From all the pounds you packed on
While you packed in the Ice Cream

P.S.- I'm just being funny, I'm not advocating a parody album here!

Farewell Old World (Gilmour, Waters, Wright)

Once we’d looked around at the carnage
And looked up at the blood red sun
The two factions stopped, to our knees we did drop
At the realization of just what we had done

In the name of Muhammad, in the name of Christ
We began fighting this whole holy war
And somewhere among, all the strapping of guns
The peace was lost those two were advocating for

And we boarded a shuttle and headed out to the stars
Not knowing where, when, or what we would find
But we needed a place, to start a new human race
Far from the one we’d destroyed left behind

And we’re not quite ready to sing with the angels
Or be bound by the surly depths of hell
But tonight we’re leaving for a different place
Farewell Old World, Farewell

Once the oil was gone, and the water dried up
All the air that we breathe stretched too thin
It didn’t matter in this fight, who was wrong and who’s right?
For neither side was going to win

Bridge
You’ve been good to us girl, you’ve been good to us girl
And when the fallout, it no longer spreads
We hope something will grow, stretch its roots far below
Fill a void and replace all the death

In an eon or so if we’ve all found a place
Another we can rape, choke, and burn all to ash
Becomes withered and dies, cause we still have to fight
Perhaps you will welcome us back?

And we’re not quite ready to sing with the angels
Or be bound by the surly depths of hell
But tonight we go looking for a new place to live
Farewell Old World, Farewell

I read all the title suggestions and like Time Travelers and Life Could Be a Dream. If no one else is wanting those badly, I already have some ideas in my head for them and would like to work on them.

Can't wait to hear what you come up with, man. :D

I think I might start with "Empty Room."

I've also got a bit of an Idea for "Farewell Old World," which I'm about to toss to cwta_eugene in a pm.

Well, I don't have any recording equipment, but I might try "See You Outside" as a kinda lost 1974 Syd demo recorded into a tape recorder.

When does this all have to be done?

*Bump*

Anyone else wanting to get involved?

So far we've got:

Massed Gadgets working on "Life Could Be A Dream" and "Time Travelers"

Mosespa working on "Empty Room" and "Farewell Old World"

Hogtown working on "See You Outside"

That's five songs spoken for. Who else wants to get in on this fun? :D

I'm taking Worm City and Flash!!! :D

Again, they're be done instrumental and in FruityLoops, like earlier times, - it's the only option I have, but I'm not complaining - Deep Horizon and Silent Moves are two tracks I'm very proud of!

I think I'm going to give Worm City a feeling of madness, yuckyness, darkness,
and Flash!!! would be an, indeed, flashy number, with explosions and glitter :D

You may fidn Deep Horizon on our latest NPF album,
and Silent Moves is here
