Jeff Beck RIP

Jeff Beck, one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time, has died at the age of 78.

The Grammy-winning musician rose to prominence with The Yardbirds, and went on to front the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice.

Beck died "peacefully" on Tuesday after contracting bacterial meningitis, his family said.

Beck ranked in the top five of Rolling Stone's 100 greatest guitarists and was often described as a "guitarist's guitarist".

A statement posted on the musician's Twitter page read: "On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck's passing."

That is sad. I'm pretty sure he was asked to replace Syd before David.

For me he was better than Hendrix (I never was that thrilled with Hendrix).

Tragic loss - and so sudden, when you think he was playing gigs just a few weeks ago.
I must admit that I'd never heard that story about him nearly joining PF - but they were too scared of him to ask him to join!
(It wasn't mentioned in 'Inside out').

Here we are a year later and I'm watching JB at the Hollywood Bowl 2016.
How does he do it? Unbelievable technique playing with his thumb - unreal!
