any news about DSOTM 50th Anniversary?

Post by frackman »

Dear All,

After following this community for more than 2 decades, today I decided to be a member of it!

Just to roll in directly, I want to ask this: I see a new post on Pink Floyd's instagram account saying that something will happen in March.

Is there anybody with the knowledge of what could happen? A new release with another "rare" photos book etc?

or, a game changer? a new format like kanye west's stem player?

a hint please! :)

cheers,

frackman

Nothing of any interest in this release. No demos, studio outtakes far less then what was in the immersion box set

As ever there are different formats and content combinations to choose from.

The Deluxe Box includes CD+LP of remastered original album, CD+LP of The Dark Side of the Moon Live at Wembley 1974, Blue Ray 5.1 and high resolution stereo remixes, Blue Ray of Original newly remastered album Atmos and high-resolution stereo mixes, DVD audio, 160 page hardback book, 76 page music book of original album, 2 7″ singles and memorabilia.

The way it's worded so far it's impossible to tell if the Blu-ray has new stereo mixes or remaster original mixes, right? I assume the latter. I'm curious for the new masters, but like someone said, the Immersion box was quite a bit more generous. Oh well....

I remember hearing about this and thinking "HOW is this going to be any different than the Immersion boxed set of just a decade ago?"

Apparently, the answer is "offer even less stuff."

Well, at least they're keeping us on our toes. *rolls eyes*

Thanks mate:)

By the way, they've announced a new box set worth of $300 right after my post! I felt like I'm "publius enigma" :)

The only thing of real interest here is The Dark Side of the Moon: Live at Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974 album, which is also available as a standalone product. The rest is nice but in the "I'll treat myself regardless" category. :D

Is there anything unique in the boxset that wasn't in the immersion or is now a standalone product?

Live at Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974 I already have, it was in the Immersion box set. I guess it will be 2011 mix versus new 2023 mix on that one. The rest is, I guess, new (re)mixes across various formats of the studio album.

p.s.

The two 7" singles are new, those were not in the Immersion sets. They are edited versions of the songs specifically done for singles.

You will get the unique cut version of the 74 concert \:D/ ... the running time on the vinyl in the box is shorter than the immersion version, so there have been made some edits to shorten that thing. Oh yeah and the ATMOS mix seems to be exclusive to the box, it seems they won´t even put it on the streaming services.

This box set is great for folks who never got the Dark Side Immersion box set back in the day (2011). For those of us who have it, it is optional at best.

^^^
At £250 this looks like a very 'optional' purchase on 24 March !
