Personally I would have done one shot ranting. It's incredible he can seemingly maintain that Stan Smith level of emotional intensity throughout filming the video!
Edit: "Between 1980 and now I've been doing that bit" (Nazi coat). Actually it hasn't been decades since he didn't tour after Radio Kaos. But that might be minor grumble.

In Roger's defence he has toured or included elements of The Wall not just in the regular tours but in many one-off shows; Glastonbury 2002 and Live 8 in 2005 come to mind. The cancel culture is a real threat to those artistes that are considered non-approved and I am concerned.

When I heard of the recent disquiet in Germany I changed my usual front garden flag for the crossed hammers -

For the record, when people refer to "cancel culture," they don't mean boycotts or even getting specific gigs cancelled.

"Cancel Culture" in the case of Roger Waters, would mean getting his record label, management company and agent to drop him and try to make it IMPOSSIBLE for him to work.

So long as he can fuck off somewhere else and play a gig, it was the gig that got cancelled, not him.

As we get older it seems that more of our artistic heroes are revealed to have feet of clay. In a myriad of ways, including anti-vaxxers, flat-earthers, having had sex with underage groupies, racists, and so on.

It does colour my view of them. But, when or if Roger releases a new album of quality original material, I'll be buying it. And listening with one eyebrow raised.

We live in a world where we can't believe anything said in the media because it is always bent to someone's agenda rather than being impartial. As Roger said, people need to do the heavy lifting in reading up on topics, understanding the topics, then forming independent views on the material in question.

Sadly, we live in an environment now where our brains reward us with dopamine for swiping this, scrolling on that and giving hundreds of topics only a few seconds of our day without getting any depth of understanding.

I share that concern with you, because to me it is a free speech issue at the end of the day. The entire point of free speech is to have the ability to voice opinions that the government or the rich and the powerful around it or the society at large does not like without having the fear of persecution (and cancel culture is definitely a form of persecution). Playing Pink on the concert stage is now a problem in 2023, but it was not a problem at all back in 1990 in Berlin when a few hundred thousand attended the concert and the whole event was broadcasted live around the world. Bollocks.

I think this will happen to him now on the concert front for sure. The tour he is on now was organized and booked before the pandemic (and then postponed until it was possible to do), but going forward there will be behind the scenes pressures and arm twisting not to book venues at all for Waters. He will most likely face very serious challenges to launch another tour, and the same goes for participating in one-off festival concerts and other various artists shows. This is probably the reason why he is extending the existing tour into Latin America later this year (October-December) while the entire crew is still in place (I do wonder if he will extend it further into 2024 for the same reason). This might very well be his farewell tour - but not as his choice.

He is tarnishing his legacy on this tour with his outbursts i agree with him with what he said about this whole cancel culture bollocks and freedom of speech. But i do agree this could be his last tour ever due to the whole woke cancel culture and people who get offended and they do seem relentless to end him.
