Just before his initial breakdown but during the time when he was doing lots of LSD. He’s clearly copying John Lennon, who had done similar snarky reviews for Melody Maker. I recall reading something suggesting that management was a bit paranoid about this interview as it took place, maybe thinking he would be too weird even if he had not gone off the deep end at that point.
