Flaming Lips in the U.K./Steve Burns

Post by SydsMadcapGirl »

Whoever is going to see Flaming Lips when they tour in the U.K., please get there early and check out their opening act, Steve Burns. Steve is a brilliant musician, whose (amazing) record "Songs For Dust Mites" just came out this August, and was produced by Steven Drozd of the Lips, and Ed Buller, who has produced the Lips. I really, really, really adore Steve, and wish I could be seeing him live...but just my luck, he played TX when I was in NY, and now he's playing NY and I'm in TX. :( So go see him for me, and support great new music!!!!!!!!!!

For more information about Steve, feel free to visit his site...http://www.steveswebpage.com. :):):)

Yeah, hahahaha. He's a great musician. I thought I wouldn't like him, when I first found out he'd made a record...like it was a joke...but ask Meddler even, he's fantastic!

Right, Meddler? Back me up here. Heh. ;)

Yeah, I met one of the Lips... he told me they really like Pink Floyd, and have sung Lucifer Sam, and Opel.

Actually, he's pretty good...and he's definitely something very different from his Blue's clues days.
I loved Songs for Dustmites, sp 'What I do on a Staurday'.
(plus, he's so cute)

And it seems the Flaming Lips is a band I should check out...?

You rock, Tinkerbell. "What I Do On Saturday" is indeed greatness!!! Also Meddler had found songs of his that aren't on the record...which are super, super cool. Older songs that Steve doesn't think are very good, but I certainly do!!! As far as him being cute, I was never one of those moms who had a crush on him, but I guess I'm seeing him in a new light due to his change in career. ;)

And, YES, the Flaming Lips DEFINITELY are a band you should check out. I think it's kind of a general rule that Floyd fans usually end up digging on the Lips also. :):):)
