What does everyone on this Forum make of the late 80's early nineties band 'The Smiths'

Good, but slightly overrated. The Queen is Dead and Meat is Murder are probably my favourite albums by them, but neither of them is genuine classic IMHO...

I like Morrissey's lyrics and Marr's guitar, music as a whole is not my cup of tea, but for sure it was a good band.
