Tommy - The Who

Post by Powderfinger »

I've downloaded the album Tommy, and I love it. But I want to know the exact track order. Does anyone has it.

And I need to cut the entire album into pieces, so that I have all the songs seperately, so does somebody knows how long the songs are.

Thank you very much, Flame-Sky Diver

Painball wizard is my favourite, terrific guitar rythm, and We're not gonna take it, of course.

When I first turned my wife on to Tommy, we would find ourselves walking around for days with "And Tommy doesn't know what day it is" bouncing around in our heads.

Just recently, we were listening to it again...this time, The Acid Queen lodged in our brains.

Listen to the original album instead...it's better musically.

Although some of the film soundtrack variations are interesting, it's just far too campy. A movie made for drugs.

Although I agree with you that Elton's cover of Pinball Wizard is quite good.

Sorry, but am I the only one who finds that song extremely disturbing? I agree with the rest though. Glad to see someone else likes Cousin Kevin.

I have a question about the lyrics in Tommy,

I understand that he's not really blind deaf and dumb, but that's only because he has an inner block:
Doctor:
His eyes can see
his ears can hear his lips speak
All the time the needles flick and rock.
No machine can give the kind of stimulation,
Needed to remove his inner block.
And then there's this in 1921:
Mother and Father:
You didn't hear it
You didn't see it.
You won't say nothing to no one
ever in your life.
You never heard it
Oh how absurd it
All seems without any proof.
You didn't hear it
You didn't see it
You never heard it not a word of it.
You won't say nothing to no one
Never tell a soul
What you know is the Truth.
So his mother and father said to him that he didn't hear anything, etc. So they created that inner block? And why?

I hope that some one is familiar with Tommy enough to explain this.

Tommy's problem is psychosematic...it was brought about by his parents suggestion the he not hear, see or speak about the murder of his stepfather (or father, depending upon which interpretation you go with.)
