I just got back from watching LOTR: The Two Towers for the first time. It was definitely worth the $7.50. The story was quite good, and the special effects are probably the best I have ever seen (Yes, even better than Episode II). I found The Fellowship of the Ring to be quite lacking except in the special effects department and I never really understood what the hype was all about. I think The Two Towers is twice as good as FOTR in every respect, though, and it definitely deserves all of the praise it is garnering.
Have you seen it? If so, what do you think of it?

To be honest, I have never had any interest whatsoever in any of the Tolkien stuff.
However, having said that, so many people have been telling me that I would enjoy these movies that I am thinking of waiting until all three are available on DVD and getting them all and watching them one after the other.
It will probably take that long for me to decide to watch even one of these movies.

Ok, i didn't like LOTR1 or LOTR2 much. Two towers was the better of the two, but i feel them to be lacking in story and there's to many special effects. Ok, i know it was one of the best books ever written, but as individual episodes the films ahve little impact and go by looks rather than anything else.

Never read the books, and i got landed last year with some free tickets, and loved the first movie.
Got free tickets again this year and saw the second one.
ive got FOTR on DVD and my gf has the 4 disk box set
i got the books for christmas and have read half through the first one.
imho the reason the story was taken out was more along the lines of character based building, and the fact that the movie already goes for 3 hours, adn they have to take stuff out.
I'll get the 4 disk set in October when it coms out (or my gf will) and that will be more closer to the book probably.
the stuff they took out of the Movie of FOTR, which you can see in the special edition (4 disk set) makes it a helluva lot closer to the book.
but then again, i prefer it when a movie maker takes a slightly different spin on how a book's story goes.
why watch the exact same story on the screen when ive read the book?
tolkien fanatics are all geeks who live in their parents basemesnt anyway, and go to Dungeons and Dragons carnivals or gatherings or whatever. :p
everyones got something to say. most people are just nerdy morons
"oh hoh hoo they pronounced Gandalf's name incorrectly!"
ffs get a life

are you basing this off how you picture the characters in your mind?Ailbhe wrote:I'm reading The Two Towers now.The only things I have against the movie are:
Frodo does not look like Frodo.
Aragorn does not look like Aragorn.
Gandalf does not look like Gandalf.
Legolas does not look like Legolas.
Sam does not look like Sam.
Merry and Pippin do not look like Merry and Pippin.
